Karrin Felton spoke at the Girls In Technology (Washington DC Metro Area) Mentor Protege Program Finale and Graduation with the theme was "Being Courageous!" The proteges enjoyed the talk and spoke about "how cool it was hearing about the accomplishments of girls in STEM close to their age."
Karrin Felton was invited to be a guest speaker by Ms. Akiza Boddie-Willis, Director, DoD-STEM Advancing Opportunities for Women in STEM Program at Malcom X City Colleges of Chicago. When asked what their favorite part of the talk was, a student replied:"Ms. Karrin's transparency and authenticity. She was only trying to inspire and uplift and that's exactly what she did for me."
"I was excited to introduce the STEM conversation to our girls. Karrin was equally as excited and it showed during her presentation! The girls were engaged and asked questions and absorbed great information. We truly appreciate Karrin for pouring out to them."

"Karrin Felton’s story is a perfect example. During a lively virtual seminar as part of the Emerging Leaders in Biotech Series for high school and college students organized by Learning Undefeated. Felton was candid about the challenges she faced during the years of education required before joining Corning, Merck and Eli Lilly as a chemist. When faced with roadblocks, “I had to tell myself the truth: you can’t do a STEM journey alone … It was time to humble myself and ask for some help.”
Ms. Felton, a NSBE member, conducted two workshops (NSBE Jr. and NSBE professionals) sharing her STEM journey as a black woman working in the Department of Defense. She addressed ongoing efforts to bridge the gap for underserved groups and minority students in the STEM field.
"Thank you so much for serving as our keynote today! I loved how much you stressed your own appreciation for teachers and posed questions for the audience to answer. So often teachers are told what they should be doing and it is refreshing to have someone invite them to think deeper instead."
